Iberian mechanism

In accordance with Article 15 of Decree-Law No. 21-B/2023 of 30 March, the Iberian electricity mechanism, established by Decree-Law No. 33/2022 of 14 May, came to an end on 31 December 2023.

This exceptional and temporary mechanism for adjusting electricity generation costs, which had an impact on the formation of electricity market prices within the MIBEL wholesale market framework, was implemented with the aim of mitigating the effects of high generation costs in response to the adverse geopolitical and economic context.
