Competent Authority

 

Resulting from Decree-Law No. 130/2014, of August 29, republished by Decree-Law No. 69/2018, of August 27, the Competent Authority for the supervision, monitoring and inspection of  petroleum exploration and exploitation activities is General Directorate for Energy and Geology (DGEG), without prejudice to the hearing of competent sectorial entities under the terms of specific legislation.

 

Thus, where one reads, in Decree-Law nº 109/94, of 26 April, Gabinete para a Pesquisa e Exploração de Petróleo (GPEP) it should read Direção Geral de Energia e Geologia (DGEG).

 

Pursuant to Decree-Law 13/2016, of 9 March, the Competent Authority for the safety of oil and gas operations in the offshore is joint between the General Directorate of Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) and the General Directorate for Energy and Geology (DGEG), without prejudice to the hearing of competent sectorial entities under the terms of specific legislation.
