General Directorate for Energy and Geology, within the scope of Petroleum Exploration and Exploitation, is responsible to ensure the procedures related to granting, transmission and extinction of Petroleum Exploration and Exploitation rights, as well as to monitor and supervise the exploration and exploitation activities, ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions in force, applicable to the petroleum sector, propose or collaborate in drafting of legislation, standards, specifications and technical regulations and to organize and integrate the technical-scientific information resulting from those activities

General Directorate for Energy and Geology, within the scope of the Geological Storage of Carbon Dioxide, is responsible for carrying out the acts provided for in Decree-Law No. 60/2012, of March 14, pursuant to its article 7, without prejudice to the powers in related matters committed to other entities.
