Mineral Masses (Quarries)
Exploitation License
The exploitation license is the title that legitimizes its holder to explore a certain quarry, that is, to extract the mineral mass in accordance with the Quarry Plan approved in terms of Decree-Law n.º 270/2001, of the 6th of October, altered and republished by Decree-Law n.º 340/2007, of the 12th of October, and the conditions of the license.

Once the conditions for granting the Operating License have been met, the operator will be notified of the conditions of the license, and will have a period of 20 days to accept in writing the conditions of the license and the security and respective amount, which must be provided within the period set in the notification.
After delivery of proof of the provision of the deposit and the respective acceptance by the competent authority for approval of PARP, the conditions for granting the license will be met.
Larger quarries, class 1, are also subject to approval by the Minister in charge.
The triennial program (every 3 years), statistical maps and technical reports are also compulsory technical documents to be submitted (by the end of April of each year) with a view to evaluating the development and compliance with the objectives of the approved Quarry Plan
