CETA EU-Canada Bilateral Dialogue on Raw Materials

The bilateral CETA - Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the European Union and Canada in the area of mineral resources addresses all aspects of the bilateral trade relationship, and seeks to establish and maintain effective cooperation on raw materials issues, and to encourage cooperation in the area of science, technology, research and innovation. This agreement creates the opportunity to consolidate investment and promote trade and knowledge exchange.

This agreement will promote the streamlining of procedures and cooperation mechanisms leading to:

• Exchange of information on legislative frameworks and best practices with an emphasis on economic, environmental and social sustainability;

• Exchange of knowledge and innovation in the technological and scientific fields;

• Commercial exchanges;

• Encourage activities that support corporate social responsibility in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
