Hydrogen is a strategic energy vector, which can be obtained by renewable means. It allows for high flexibility of use across the energy system and can play a key role in a sustainable way in decarbonising the economy.

The objective of this project is to evaluate the potential and impacts of hydrogen, considering the specificities of the country in terms of resources and characteristics of the national energy system. The achievement of this objective culminated in the elaboration of the Roadmap and Action Plan for Hydrogen in Portugal.

State of the art & Barrier Identification;

Definition of priorities and strategies for technological innovation;

Modelling for hydrogen value chain integration;

Creation of a formal support network for technological innovation;

Definition of the Roadmap: Research, development and technological innovation;

Definition of the Roadmap: Promotion of Hydrogen as an energy storage vector;

Results promotion and dissemination.
