GIS and Territorial Planning
Territorial Planning
Regarding Territorial Planning and Environment areas, DGEG´s competence are:
- Participation in the preparation of Territorial Management Instruments, namely Planos Diretores Municipais (PDM) (Municipal Master Plans).
- Promote environmental preservation in the field of energy and geological resources.
- Collaborate with competent entities in the fields of territorial planning and environmental protection.
- Share relevant information for the use of energy and geological resources.
Given the growing importance of adequate planning of the territorial space and the indispensable conciliation of sectoral interests based on the responsible management of resources and environmental sustainability, DGEG has been increasing its participation at the level of various advisory and monitoring committees for the several territorial management instruments, such as Programa Nacional da Politica de Ordenamento do Território (PNPOT) (National Territorial Planning Policy Program), Territorial Planning Regional Program , Planos Diretores Municipais - PDM's (Municipal Master Plans), Urbanization Plans or Detailed Plans, among others.
DGEG has also been involved in the Territorial Management Plans under the Nature 2000 Network as part of the consultation carried out by the coordinating entities.
Also, at the level of urban planning operations provided for in the Regulamento Jurídico da Urbanização e Edificação - RJUE (Legal Regulations for Urbanization and Building), DGEG assesses and issues a vast set of technical opinions based on the compatibility of sectoral interests with other uses of space, the valuation and appropriate use of geological and energy resources.
DGEG has also been playing an active role with regard to environmental issues, including, among others, participation in the Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment Procedures of various projects at a national level.
With the aim of proper territorial management, DGEG provides specific information on geological and energy resources, information that is dynamic and that can be consulted through our viewer.
